Tzatziki is one of my favourite sauces because of its clean tasting ingredients: lemon, cucumber, and fresh dill. Since I can eat tzatziki sauce in embarrassingly large amounts, I thought I would come up with a healthy recipe to share with people who are suffering with the same problem!
Recipe
Ingredients for Tzatziki Sauce:
2 cups Greek yogurt
1 cup diced cucumber (leave the peel on), chopped
1 stalk of celery, chopped
Juice from half a lemon or 2-3 Tbsps
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 Tbsp fresh dill
Pepper, to taste
Directions:
Combine all ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Chill for at last 30 minutes (the longer the better) before serving. For Tzatziki Tuna Sandwich:
Drain one can of tuna, and add in 2 heaping Tbsps of the above tzatziki sauce. Stir and enjoy! The Taste:
This tuna tzatziki sandwich has a cooling effect, like the kind you would get after taking your first sip of a Pina Colada after laying in the hot sun for hours. The flavour from the lemon is faint, tasting like a single slice of lemon does in a glass of cold water. The dill is what ties this recipe together offering a bold flavour that pairs nicely with the subtle taste of lemon. To add a bit of extra crunch to the sauce, I added in some celery. It really doesn’t get any better than this!

It’s about balance. . .
I usually make a big batch of Tzatziki sauce so that I can incorporate it into many of my meals throughout the week. Here are five ways I useTzatziki sauce:

  1. Egg and Tzatziki wrap
  2. Drip my vegetables in Tzatziki
  3. Pour Tzatziki over baked fish
  4. Mix Tzatziki in with rice
  5. Make a Tzatziki chicken salad sandwich
