Follow this honey mustard baked chicken tenders recipe and I bet this will be your new ‘go to’ recipe for chicken tenders! I found the above recipe on one of my new favourite food blogs for healthy recipes, Branny boils over. As the tagline describes, the blog has recipes that are mostly healthy, mostly vegetarian. Your mouth will literally start to water after seeing the vibrantly coloured pictures of food on this website! It is no secret that I am obsessed with using  panko (Japanese breadcrumbs).  I love the light yet crispy characteristics that panko brings to otherwise soft textured dishes such as casseroles and various meats.

In this recipe, the panko was touched with red and white colours from the paprika and garlic powder. There were no mushy surfaces to be found on the crispy exterior of these chicken tenders. I enjoyed the initial distinct mustard flavour after each bite, which had an aftertaste that was smeared with the sweetness of honey. The garlic powder and paprika added assertive flavour elements to the dish, similar to way adding garlic powder to mashed potatoes cannot go unnoticed.

It’s about balance . . .

It is important to teach all family members how to safely handle and prepare chicken appropriately to prevent illness. The bacteria from chicken can be spread directly (the raw chicken touches another food item) or indirectly (cutting vegetables on the same cutting board that was used for raw chicken). After handling chicken, be sure to always wash your hands with warm soapy water to prevent any spread of bacteria. For more safe food handling tips from Health Canada please click here.
