I promise you, this recipe is not gross. Yes, the thought of tofu being a dessert makes me cringe too, but this chocolate mousse recipe is one of the most rich, spoon-licking good mousses I have ever had. You won’t believe me until you try it, so go ahead, prove me wrong.
The Taste:
You can count on this mousse to be so rich, you won’t be able to finish your serving (and thats not because you know its made from tofu!). The mousse is insanely dense, creating a strong concentrated chocolately taste with every bite. Having a similar texture to a thick icing on a cake, this mousse was thick and will plaster a layer of itself on the inside of your cheeks. There was no tofu aftertaste to be found, only chocolately goodness, and a bit of heat from the 1/8 teaspoon of chilli flakes I added! Tip: You can personalize this recipe by adding a Tbsp of honey, a pinch of chilli flakes,  or even use different extracts such as peppermint or almond. Let me know which version is your favourite.

It’s about balance . . .

I absolutely love desserts. I admit it. Desserts are usually higher in fat, sugar, and calories, but this doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy them! As soon as I tell myself I can’t have something, I want it more!  Here are 5 tips on how to incorporate desserts into your healthy lifestyle:

  • Eat a smaller portion or share a dessert. This will cut down the calories and the fat!
  • Eat your dessert slowly! Allow time for cravings to be satisfied!
  • Make your desserts yourself!  You can modify the ingredients.
  • Try fruit! It may be able to satisfy your sweet tooth!
  • Don’t make it a habit! Sugar is addictive, so enjoy desserts in moderation.

Remember: Just because this dessert is made from tofu doesn’t mean its “guilt-free”. It’s still a dessert!Overall recipe rating: 3.5/5 kiwis
